Metropolitan Agafangel arrived at Kennedy Airport on the evening of September 23, 2010, and went to the Holy Trinity parish (Rector - Fr. Vsevolod Dutikow), where he spoke with a group of parishioners.  On September 25, he left for Boston, where he served Vigil with the parish rector Fr. Dimitriy Amelchenko and the rector of the Greek parish, Fr. George.  Metropolitan Agafangel served Divine Liturgy the next day with Fr. Dimitriy and Deacon Fr. Dimitry Dobronravov.

 

A trapeza was held after the service.

 

 


 

That same day, Metropolitan Agafangel flew to Washington, D.C, to the Holy Ascension parish in Virginia, where he officiated the service for the Exaltation of the Cross.  A discussion with the parishioners followed the service, with Metropolitan Agafangel answering a large number of questions.  Metropolitan Agafangel served Divine Liturgy the next day with the Right Reverend Joseph, Bishop of Washington, D.C., and Archpriest Gregory Williams, along with Deacon Fr. John Hinton.  A trapeza was held after the service, and later, Metropolitan Agafangel was able to discuss the work of our missions with Fr. Gregory.

 

 


 

On the evening of September 27, Metropolitan Agafangel arrived in San Diego, California, to visit the Resurrection Skete in Fallbrook.  Metropolitan Agafangel met with parishioners of the Greek parish (Rector - Fr. Jacob Ferentz) the next day and returned to New York on September 29.  On September 30, Metropolitan Agafangel met with the manager of the Religious Center, George Lukin, to discuss how best to utilize the Mountain View property.  Metropolitan Agafangel remained at the Center on October 1, and 2, 2010.

 



In the Church of the Transfiguration located at the Center, the traditional cycle of monastic services is maintained by those living there

 




On the evening of October 2, Metropolitan Agafangel served Vigil at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Valley Cottage.  The next day he served Divine Liturgy there along with Archbishop Andronik, Archpriest Gregory Kotlaroff, Protodeacon Job Chemerov and Hierodeacon Makary.



During the Great Entrance, Metropolitan Agafangel elevated Hierodeacon Makary to Hieromonk.

A procession with the Cross around the church was conducted at the end of Liturgy, followed by a trapeza.


The next day, October 4, a meeting of the Eastern American and Syracuse dioceses was held, where a number of matters were discussed and a range of decisions regarding the life of the dioceses were made.  The minutes of the diocesan meeting can be read here.


 


 

Metropolitan Agafangel arrived in Canada that evening and met with the Parish Council of the Church of Blessed St. Xenia in Ottawa.  On the evening of October 5, Metropolitan Agafangel along with the Rector, Fr. Oleg Mironov, and Protodeacon Job served a moleben with an akathist to Blessed St. Xenia.  Afterwards, Metropolitan Agafangel met and spoke with the parishioners about matters in the Church and answered a number of questions.

On October 6, Metropolitan Agafangel traveled to Toronto, where he served a moleben with an akathist and met with the parishioners there.





Metropolitan Agafangel returned to Ottawa on October 7 and left for New York from there.  On October 9, Metropolitan Agafangel served Vigil at the Holy Trinity Church along with the Rector, Fr. Vsevolod, Fr. Victor Dobroff and Deacon Fr. Dimitry Dobronravov.  Divine Liturgy was served the next day, followed by a trapeza.



Metropolitan Agafangel departed New York the evening of October 10 and returned to Odessa.
